Welcome to the Architectural Design & Technology website
The Architectural Studies Department here at Cardiff School of Art and Design, UWIC, offer two routes into careers in Architectural Technology.
The HND lasts for two years (full time) and those completing the course will be able to pursue careers as Architectural Technicians, gaining Technician membership of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (TCIAT) and working as part of an architectural design team.
The BSc (Hons) takes three years (full time) and graduates are eligible for associate membership of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (ACIAT) upon completion of the course.
A period of professional development following graduation leads to full membership (MCIAT), and status as a Chartered Architectural Technologist. Architectural Technologists are integral to the design team, and may gain responsibility for design or management, or even set up practice on their own.
The course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists and graduates will be eligible, after a period of relevant experience, for full membership.
