Staff profile / Alison Davies

Alison Davies is a Lecturer and currently teaching Digital imagery, Print, Techno textiles, Fabric Manipulations and Laser cutting. Her main area of research interest is Fabric technology for an ageing population. She is passionate about sustainable textiles and researching and implicating this area into her teaching.

Alison graduated from Central St Martins Collge of Art and Design specialising in the Future of Textiles. She is a freelance designer and shows regularly at international textiles and design shows, such as Heimtextil, Premier vision and Indigo.

Her work includes research into Fabric Technology in Japan specialising in fabric technology, and she has strong ongoing links with Japanese designers such as Nuno and Yoshika Hishinuma. Alison is also a Design Consultant for technical Fabrics.

Alison Davies is a member of DIGIT (http://www.wirad.ac.uk/research-themes/digit/), part of the Design Enhanced Human Futures theme within WIRAD.
