Staff profile / Dr Keireine Canavan
Recently returned from extended research leave, Dr Canavan has been in Kuwait conducting research on Bedouin Al Sadu weaving.

Having studied weaving & fashion at Liverpool University, Keireine continued with an MA in knitted textile design at the Royal College of Art, London in 1981.
Further studies included an MDes with Computer Application at the Scottish College of Textiles, and culminated with the first practice PhD at Heriot-Watt University in 2003. She was awarded the McFarlane Prize 2003 for 'outstanding contribution to research'.
As a specialist in world ikat weaving and contemporary CAD/CAM knit production, Keireine has published her research, speaks regularly at conference and exhibits her practice work.
Dr Keireine Canavan is a member of DIGIT (http://www.wirad.ac.uk/research-themes/digit/), part of the Fine Art & Ceramics theme within WIRAD.
