Staff profile / Michael Hose
Principal Lecturer
Email: mhose@uwic.ac.uk
Michael Hose graduated in 1968 with M.Des (RCA). Engaged first as a researcher by Josiah Wedgwood plc, where his early work on the development of modelling devices fostered the company's later significant commitment to CAD/ CAM for both design and modelling. He later also worked as a shape designer for the company before establishing a practice as independent designer and manufacturer of ceramics. In his role as an academic, he founded and developed the Centre's taught MA course in the early 1980s and more recently the research degree programme.
His research activities relate to the examination of aspects of creative practice, most currently focusing upon the representation or expression of the human figure, through the medium of ceramics. Responsibilities within the Centre include the supervision of research degrees, the tutoring and supervision of masters' students and the conduct of research.
Mike Hose is a member of the Centre for Ceramics Research (http://www.wirad.ac.uk/research-themes/centre_for_ceramics_research/), part of the Fine Art & Ceramics theme within WIRAD.
