After graduating from Teeside Polytechnic in 1985, Roger spent 14 years in manufacturing environments in consultancy and in-house design departments at major international companies such as ITT, Alcatel, Addis Housewares and Mitsubishi Plastics. Roger has led a many successful product launches and capital investment projects that have maintained these companies as leaders in household plastics, baby, dental and teletronic markets.
In September 1998, Roger joined The University of Wales as Senior Lecturer/Commercial Coordinator. This position has enabled him to deliver design, development, management and marketing techniques to graduates and mature students, as well as continuing his ‘hands-on’ design skills through consultancy projects with a number of local SME’s and blue chip manufacturing companies.
Roger’s research interests lie in sustainable product design and design education and he has presented papers in Europe and for the IDSA in Canada.
Roger Griffiths is member of Programme for Advanced Interactive Prototype Research (http://www.wirad.ac.uk/research-themes/programme_for_advanced_interactive_prototype_research/), part of the Design Enhanced Human Futures theme within WIRAD.
