Having graduated from Reading University in Typography & Graphic Communication, she became a freelance designer with a commitment to the voluntary sector, working with such organisations as Women's Aid, Shelter Cymru and Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament among many others.
She entered Higher Education as a lecturer in Historical and Critical Studies and went on to undertake an MA in Design History and Theory, with a particular interest in gender and consumption. She has published papers based on her final piece of research in this area. Her passion for education and graphic communication continues, however, and she currently teaches in both theory and practice - with a particular interest in typography and the power of communication. Her research activities span different areas: from pedagogic research into students' experience and understandings of the relationship between theory and practice, to staff perceptions of the use and development of IT in art and design (LTSN supported project).
In 2000 she was appointed as Director of Learning and Teaching for Cardiff School of Art and Design and has been committed to working with colleagues to develop and enhance approaches to learning and teaching in the School of Art and Design. As part of this, she is currently co-ordinating an international and cross-disciplinary conference titled 'Creativity or Conformity: building cultures of creativity in Higher Education' (www.creativityconference07.org) which was held at UWIC in January 2007.

Wendy Keay-Bright is a Reader on Inclusive Design and lectures on the BACG Graphic Communication programme with responsibility for time-based new media design.
A graduate of Graphic Design and Animation Wendy began her career at Siriol Animation on the popular children's TV series, SuperTed, before becoming a freelance animation producer. Her influences are film-makers Len Lye, Norman McClaren and Oskar Flischinger and digital artists John Maeda and Scott Snibbe; it is their use of technology as a medium for sophisticated, time-based experiences that reflect personal expression and performance that has provided inspiration for Wendy's work.
Wendy’s most successful research project, Reactive Colours, considers the potential of computers as embodied play environments (www.reactivecolours.org) and forms part of her PhD portfolio. The project was awarded funding from the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA) Learning Programme in 2004, and has been shortlisted for many awards for design and leadership. A spin off project, ReacTickles Mobile was awarded the prize for Socially Responsive Media Across Multiple Platforms at MipTV, Cannes in 2007 and the ReacTickles Creativity Box has been taken on by international software distributors, TAG Learning.

Neil joined the BA Graphic Communication programme as a part-time lecturer in 2001. Now appointed as a permanent member of staff, he brings to the course many years of professional experience in graphic design for print. His employment began as a studio-based designer in 1980. Since 1990, he has continued to develop his commercial skills and knowledge, initially as a freelance designer, working within many design agencies, to now offering graphic design services to his own client-base as Director of Neil Angove Ltd.
Neil places great emphasis on developing designer-client and designer-industry relationships. Passionately promoting personal responsibility and awareness of the world outside the immediate design realm, he seeks to encourage the acquisition of opinion and application of initiative, such that design graduates may contribute intelligently to the lives of those people with whom they may engage, whether personally or professionally.
At a time where some print-industry professionals have begun to refuse work from graphic-design graduates, even from professionals, the need to identify reasons for this and to address the problem is increasing. It is Neil's intention to conduct research into this phenomenon and to bring back to the teaching curriculum, and to commercial design's working practices, a new working-method for the so-called 'digital age'.
