The Fine Art department at Cardiff School of Art & Design now offers three programmes in Fine Art at Masters level: MFA, MA and MPhil. Each programme focuses on particular aspects of contemporary art practice.
MFA
Our new Master of Fine Art (MFA) programme focuses on the professional aspects of an artist's work. You will develop and strengthen your existing practice within a critical academic context through a negotiated programme of learning and with the support of staff and technicians. We welcome recent-graduates as well as those with more established practices. The programme runs in full and part-time modes.

MA
Our MA, established over 21 years ago, has recently been updated to reflect the changing demands of both professional and academic sectors, balancing professional practice with research. As an MA student you will attend a series of seminars in history and theory, developing your own art practice and producing both new artwork and a dissertation at the end of the programme.

MPhil
Our MPhil programme places emphasis on research, providing a training in the research methods vital to progression to a PhD. You will join a vibrant community of researchers and receive support from a supervisory team of Fine Art staff dedicated to helping you to identify your research question and pursue your enquiry through to completion at the highest level.
