Welcome to our BA/BSc Product Design programme pages
If you are here we assume that, like us, you must be interested in making a difference to the world we live in.
Do you want to design products of the future? Do you love being creative? Do you want to be a part of a thriving Product Design community? Do you enjoy a challenge? Are you a problem solver? Then welcome to our world!
Have a look around you, wherever you are reading this – every single thing you can see that isn’t nature was probably designed and manufactured by someone. Do you ever think to yourself “Why has it been designed in that way?” “How are people going to use it?” “How will it make them feel?”
For over 30 years Cardiff School of Art & Design has been producing designers with the skills to enter industry and consultancy
There are many reasons to study Product Design with us. For example you may have a passion for design, and like us, you may have a strong personal ethos such as a desire to help others, sustainability, improving the quality of life, your own personal style, or maybe you just want to make a difference.

Our Product Design courses cover all of the aspects of developing new products and services from concept to production. And it works! For over 30 years Cardiff School of Art & Design has been producing designers with the skills to enter industry and consultancy. In recent years our graduates have gained employment at Kinneir Dufort Design, Seymour Powell, Alloy Total Product Design, Dyson, Sony, BBC, Panasonic, Puma, Ford, Aston Martin and Jaguar. Some have also set up their own businesses such as Tonic Studios, asbri, Spin Dogs and PRO Medical Innovations Ltd to name but a few.
Our programme is accredited by the Institute of Engineering Designers and the course team are all practicing designers with nearly a century of industrial experience between them. We have designed for such companies as Bentley Motor Cars, Apple, Hoover, Sony Ericsson, The Product Group, Glasdon, London Associates, Pace-Micro, PDD as well as many others. In addition to our ongoing design work we are also active researchers in a variety of product design related fields.
To find out more about us please get in touch or come to our studios for a visit.
